Choosing The Perfect Wedding Venue

Choosing the right wedding venue can be a daunting task for anyone as it is usually the first big decision you will make when planning your wedding day and besides the dress it’s the main memory friends and family will have of your big day. Making this decision is not a light one so here are some tips to help you narrow down the choices of venue for your wedding day.

Budget

Seems obvious but knowing what the maximum you can spend on your wedding venue and wedding dress is the starting point to understanding how much you can afford to shell out on your wedding day. As well as this, don’t be afraid to discuss with your venue prospects the budget you have and the what they are offering. Often a key offering in their venue (for example a band or wedding planner) may be something you already have access meaning there’s room for discussion on prices.

Location

Once your spending budget is taken care of the next step is your location. Most brides to be may already know that they’re marrying in their home town but often there are situations where the bride and groom are from different backgrounds. This can open up your choice options to basically anywhere! It’s also important to consider how far your guests will need to travel to your wedding venue and if this is a viable option for the majority of them.

Theme

Will your wedding have a colour scheme or theme to it? Whether it’s elegance or rustic, deciding on a theme will mean that your venue should correspond with this theme as much as possible. Consider your wedding day photos in this as you may want to pick out key spots and backdrops for your photos. Also consider whether or not you there’s enough opportunity to personalize your wedding venue to suit your theme. Sometimes a venue may need a lot of work in decorating it as often as a wedding venue can have a very strong personality that you need to accommodate your theme to.

Key Features

Decide beforehand what exactly it is you’re looking for from your venue and find what venues fit the criteria. Once you’ve visited these wedding venues, decide what key features are absolutely necessary for your wedding day (Catering? Seating arrangements?) and which ones you can compromise on. Going into a search knowing what you do and don’t want can help you quickly filter out venues.
