Hen Night Essentials (Trust us, You Will Need These!)

At Polestars, our mission is to ensure all hens have the best time of their life whether you are going out of town for your hen weekend or just a night out with friends and family. That’s why we have carefully put together hen night essentials you ought to take with you!

Your outfit

The outfit you will take along depends on your activity on your hen night. If you are having a burlesque dance party, then heels are pretty much a must. Fishnets, make-up, corsets and even tassels if you are feeling very brave! Not all hen party themes need to have a sexy vibe. Old ladies or funny themes can spring about just as much creativity. We love the idea of a Grease ‘Pink Lady’ theme! Most importantly of course is your costume for the night. This will help you get into character and set the tone for the evening from the theme choice. Be sure to keep it simple and have a colour theme too so that you and your hens stand out (handy for bustling night clubs!).

Food and Drink

Treat yourself and your ladies with some pre-ordered food and or drinks for the evening. Something you shouldn’t miss out is chocolate! Make the food arrangements and choices as simple as possible to avoid food that could be messy to eat (never good after a few drinks!).
Speaking of drinks, cocktails are pretty essential. A hen night isn’t complete without a cocktail! You can incorporate your favourite flavours in your drinks or even take a class. Also be sure to have few glasses of wine and other fun options for anyone who doesn’t drink. Try to make everyone feel included regardless of whether or not they like to drink! Arranging a non alcoholic activity for the evening is a good way to include everyone.

Accessories

This is the trickiest bit of hen weekend. Every bride is different. Some think the typical comedy hen party accessories are pretty hilarious, while others may find them totally vulgar. Sashes are always a fun way and good transitional to accessory your hen night as they are not too bold but are still quite fun. Also feathered fans or wraps could add some silliness to your evening (think Miss Piggy – that would be a great hen theme!!).

Now that we’ve mentioned the must-haves for your wedding night, here are some things you can leave behind (just for one night!):

  • Any wedding stresses or anything wedding related
  • Fiancé (optional – we’ve heard a ‘sten’ night can be just as fun!)
  • Pressure to be perfect

Remember, your hen party is a chance for a little freedom and stress relief during you planning. Make the most of it and make some memories!
