Real Wedding: Elissa & Luke's Country House Wedding at Buxted Park Hotel

Welcome to my very first real wedding on our UK blog! I would like to introduce you to Elissa and Luke who celebrated their wedding in Buxted Park Hotel, a beautiful Palladian mansion set in the finest East Sussex parkland. The couple hosted an outdoor summer wedding on the 27th of May 2012, and what a beautiful day they were blessed with!

The bride, Elissa, shared some details about their special day…

Why did you choose a country house wedding?

We always liked the idea of a wedding in a country house and when we visited Buxted Park Hotel we just feel in love with it. The house and grounds are absolutely stunning and we were so happy at the prospect of having an outside wedding ceremony!

What did you have as the wedding menu?

To start we choose the fish cakes. We both love fish cakes. Then for main we decided on the beef but wanted to give it a roast beef feel with roast potatoes and vegetables, as it was a Sunday we thought it would go down well. For dessert we couldn’t resist the Eton mess it was presented beautifully.

Did you have wedding favours?

Yes I made them myself. Using square transparent boxes I put retro sweets in them and personalised love hearts saying thank you for joining us on our special day.

Did your wedding have any unique or unusual touches?

As the weather was very hot and sunny that day we were able to have our outside ceremony it was truly amazing our dream had come true. Our daughter and other Flower Girls and Paige Boys walked down the aisle to their own song, ‘Your song’ by Ellie Goulding. Then myself my dad and other bridesmaid followed to a separate song ‘Only Girl in the World’, again it was Ellie Gouldings version. After the ceremony we had a ice cream bike come and serve the guests yummy ice cream, it went down so well as it was so hot that day. We also had a fantastic magician join us for the drinks reception everyone was blown away by his tricks. Then in the evening we had a Lionel Ritchie tribute act he was fab!

Did you have an overall wedding theme?

One thing that became a theme was ‘Roses’ I had them on the bottom of my dress and so did the bridesmaids. The cake was also covered in them it looked amazing. I used three colours candy pink, dusky pink and lilac. The bridesmaids wore the same dresses in the three different colours.

What type of wedding cake did you have?

It was beautiful. Three tiers vanilla sponge cake with 270 roses over it in the three wedding colours.

What was your main priority in your wedding?

Just to try and enjoy it and remember every minute. And not to forget it was about me and Luke getting married and so special that our little girl was there to join in on the day.

What could you have not done without on your wedding day?

The sun. Hehe the only thing I couldn’t order and it turned up, although we would still have had a fantastic day, the outside ceremony and ice cream worked so much better with the sun. Or my dress, I absolutely loved it and it made my day I wish I could wear it again.

Special thanks to Elissa and Luke for sharing their beautiful wedding day at Buxted Park with us. Set in 312 acres of private grounds and parkland, which includes three large lakes and a deer park, Buxted Park is the ideal wedding venue to host your country manor house wedding.
