Wedding Photography: A Few Moments With Frances Taylor Photography

In order for your photographer to capture the most spectacular images of you and your partner on your wedding day, you must be at ease and comfortable with having them around. This is a relationship that should be made before the morning of the wedding. I would suggest you organise an engagement shoot, allowing you both to become comfortable in front of your photographers lens. Or even just arrange go for a coffee before the wedding so they can get know you and your groom.

I caught up with Frances of Frances Taylor Photography for a quick chat:

I hear you take a maximum of 20 wedding booking per year, why so?

I also work as a family photographer and do a lot of marketing photography. I like to keep it mixed so my work is always fresh and I’m always pushing myself. I invest a lot of time on each wedding so I don’t want to compromise on quality by taking on too many weddings. I would prefer to build a relationship with each client to get the best results for their day and to do this justice you can only take on a maximum of 20 bookings a year.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I love spending my free time with my husband and our one year old son.  It’s incredible watching my little one learn about the world, everyday discovering something new.

When do you think a bride is most beautiful?

I love photographing the bride in the morning while she is getting ready. It is a really lovely part of the day seeing it all come together. This is certainly one of the most beautiful times of the day. But the most beautiful time is when she is walking down the isle and the bride and groom see each other for the first time. It’s a great moment to capture!

How did you realise you wanted to photograph weddings?

I studied Fine Art at university and started to specialise in photography. After I graduated friends kept asking me to photograph their wedding. I realised I absolutely loved it-particularly the documentary aspect to it. It all went from there!

You say in your website that you have remained friends with many of your past couples. Why is this important to you?

You develop a really close relationship with people when you photograph their wedding-you have shared something really special and for me it often creates a connection with the family. I have gone on to photograph their children and feel really privileged to be able to document such important events. One friend I made has a little boy the same age as my son so we meet up for playdates. I guess its important to me because I work alone a lot so its great to keep in touch!

Tea, coffee or a chocolate milkshake?

Hmmmmm tea I think- Though also partial to a Latte! Variety is the spice of life and all that!

Your favourite place you have travelled?

I love Greece and traveled there a lot when I was younger-lots of happy memories!

What inspires you?

Amazing light on a hot summers day around 6pm. My little boy every single second of every day.

Frances Taylor began her career 14 years ago when a friend of her asked her to photograph their wedding. She has since gone on to photography over 200 weddings! Frances has a relaxed style of photography and she ensures her clients are relaxed and comfortable in order to capture the most natural shots. She has remained friends with many of her past couples, forming a relationship with them and even going on to document the following milestones in their lives.
