The hotel is idyllically situated in the market
town of Knaresborough, with its many ancient
walkways, cobbled alleyways and historic buildings.
Knaresborough is surrounded by some of the most
varied and beautiful scenery to be found anywhere in
the whole of the United Kingdom.
The town itself is just a stone’s throw away from the
cosmopolitan centre of Harrogate, Leeds and York and
is situated just 4 miles form the A1.
The town is also served by all major road networks and just 25 minutes from Leeds/Bradford airport.

We worked closely with Jonathan, the General Manager, from the beginning, meeting on numerous occasions. He was very professional throughout and very forgiving of our numerous changes of plan, as well as being able to work around our planned 6 week trip overseas just before the wedding.
We decided on a choice of menu and were invited for dinner to sample some of the available options. The food was excellent and we met the chef, Victoria, and were able to thank her in person.
We were blessed by very good weather on our wedding day and, due to Jonathan's expertise, all went according to plan. Even the DJ was good and was able to accommodate many dedications with the music appropriate to the age range of the guests.
Without exception our guests remarked on how well everything went and how good the food was. We were slightly concerned that Victoria wouldn't be able to produce our dinner for two to the same standard for 50 or so but we needn't have worried. It was excellent.
Finally we would just like to say that all of the staff worked really hard to make the day go well. It went more than well - it was wonderful!

After discussions with Jonathan and a tour of the hotel and facilities we booked and cancelled all further viewings.
Jonathan was our dedicated contact throughout the whole planning phase and on the big day and was always on hand to answer our calls, meet with us as the big day drew closer and to oversee our fabulous day!!
Choosing the menu for a wedding can be difficult but at The Dower House Hotel and Spa we were delighted to partake in the tasting session in which we were able to try a selection of stater, main and dessert courses to help us make up our minds, little did we know that the food was of such a high standard that we wanted to choose the whole menu!! We cannot stress enough the exceptional quality of the food and the talent in the kitchen of this establishment!!
One of the overriding comments on the big day was the surprise of the guests at having gourmet food in a hotel!
On the morning of big day Jonathan and his team had much to organise as we had a team of event dressers, an artist for the evening reception and a large film crew arriving at the hotel, not to mention the hair and make-up, guests arriving and being a hotel they also had a breakfast sitting to deal with. The entire team were organised, helpful, composed, attentive and friendly amongst the chaos we brought!
Every part of our big day ran to time and smoothly and this was due to the planning, efficiency and talent of Jonathan and the team.
We would highly recommend this venue and rate this venue and its facilities and excellent staff a 10/10
