Wedding Reviews for The Legacy Rose & Crown Hotel

(the events manager), made the experience seamless and within an hour of meeting her, we had a date and plan for a 30 person wedding ready to go.
The Rose and Crown is set in a wonderful area of Salisbury and the backdrop against the river is a wonderful place to have a reception. The staff were all very friendly and helpful when we were there.
One of the things we found very important was the communication between hotel and customer. Our emails were always answered promptly and our messages were passed on to the correct person as well. Although this seems obvious, we had dealt with places before who did not do this and this certainly made the experience far more pleasant.
By the time the day arrived, Katy and her staff had everything in place and we arrived to a beautiful venue and wonderful reception.
The food, which was picked from a pre-set menu, had a wide variety of options. They also were able to alter the food for some of our fussy guests and catered for a last minute addition to our reception who had a dietary requirement.
The venue itself has wonderful character, we had the Orangery, which overlooked the gardens and river. A bar is available which is a short walk round through reception with plenty of options for drinks.
In the evening, a resident DJ set up and the room was moved around to allow for a dance floor, this was what we wanted and made the experience even more enjoyable.
As the bride and groom, we stayed overnight. The room was spacious, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. There was a buffet breakfast in the morning as well.
Overall, the Rose and Crown, Katy and her staff were a big part of our day and making it so special.

an amazing day it was..
I arrived the day before and from the second I walked in I was attended to and looked after (even had all my belongings taken to my room for me so I could enjoy a drink at the bar)

Katy was very involved the very next morning assisting with my flower and table dresser and even helped me with some last minute table plans changes.
Katy was with me right up until I walked down the aisle- I was a blubbering mess.

The hotel itself is such a beautiful idyllic setting inside and out.
The river behind us was an added bonus if you want to capture the most amazing photos.

The staff through our wedding was just exceptional and the food (bbq buffet) was just that delicious that we are even arranging another family get together next year.

The feedback I had from all our family and friends was great and many looking forward to revisiting.

I can’t recommend the Rose and Crown enough.
So if you are looking into possibly getting married here - I can assure you that you will not be disappointed with Katy at hand.

The day ran smoothly from start to finish, despite having to get married at a much earlier time. Rachael and the Rose and Crown were very adaptable. Due to Rachael's knowledge and expertise, she was able to guide us on wedding plans, even down to proper wedding etiquette. We truly loved our wedding day and are so grateful to the Rose and Crown and the team, there isn't anything we would change about our special day.

exceptional customer service. It is a beautiful venue with an amazing setting by the river, and the cathedral in the background.
Rachael Bruce was our wedding coordinator, and she made us feel very welcome from the start. She could not do enough for us. From start to finish she made all of our ideas become a reality, even giving us other suggestions we hadn't thought of.
On our wedding day we got delayed by 45 minutes coming from our ceremony to the hotel. We rang ahead to pre-warn them and this did not fase them at all. They had no issues with this, and just shifted the timings for everything. When we eventually arrived we were not made to feel rushed by them at all, and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
Our three course wedding breakfast meal was really good. The food was exceptional and very good portion sizes. The time between each course was very good, so it never felt like they were rushing to get the next course out.
The way they decorated our tables, on our behalf, with the bits we had dropped off, exceeded our expectations.
All in all we couldn't praise the hotel enough. Rachael and all the staff went above and beyond. We would highly recommend this hotel to anybody thinking of having there wedding here.
We will definitely be returning many times in the future.

Rachael was there to take us through each stage, and make sure that everyone was happy . It was truly seamless and picture perfect. Frank, at the restaurant, and Sharon, on the reception, are both a credit to the hotel, providing a friendly thorough service at all times.

Our wedding really was amazing and I can't thank these guys enough for all they did to make sure we didn't have anything to worry about. The wedding breakfast was in the glass end of the restaurant, and as it was
a sunny day, it was simply stunning. The food was delicious, and well served and attended to. Everyone had a hot meal without any waiting. The evening reception was brilliant. The DJ was spot on. Everyone was up dancing and having lots of fun. We also hired a photo booth, which added to the enjoyment too. Many of our guests complemented the evening buffet, and it must have been good as I hardly got a look in.

All in all, we highly recommend this beautiful river location, with gardens and outside space to hold your wedding.

of my questions. The lead up to the wedding was so stress free. Even dropping off the centre pieces and wedding extras was seamless, we left it for them to do and they placed everything perfectly.
The wedding morning I thought I would be a bundle of stress but everything ran smoothly. We had a little bit of rain and Rachael knew I really wanted to have the outdoor wedding that I had planned, so she kept it going and luckily the rain went off!
Throughout the whole day Rachael kept everything running smoothly, without us even knowing she was there! She worked so hard to make sure everything was how we wanted and it was above and beyond everything we had expected.
I cannot RECOMMEND and thank The Legacy Rose and Crown Hotel enough and all the team. They made us feel so welcome and did everything they could to make the day as perfect as it was.

Thanks to Rachael and her awesome team, the whole day ran so smoothly. The food was lovely too. I would do it all over again and would choose the Legacy Rose and Crown Hotel!

We also had the cathedral suite for the night before and the night of the wedding, which was really nice. There was so much room for the wedding party to get ready in. We had a few extra people in there than planned, but that wasn't a problem with the size of the room. Breakfast the next morning was perfect too. So overall, we were well looked after on the day and leading up to the day.

Rachael is a brilliant wedding coordinator. Thank you again for all your help and hard work to make our big day so special and perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better day!

absolutely fantastic. You would be in danger of missing out on the beautiful building and the picturesque garden, making the most stunning wedding photographs. With backdrops of the river Avon and Salisbury cathedral, we could not ask for any more.

From servers, bar staff, chefs, reception, and the maintenance man, every staff member was professional, courteous, and knew their roles and responsibilities inside out. They were instrumental in ensuring that my wife and our guests had the best experience possible.

Even with government restrictions in place with covid-19, the legacy rose, and the crown implemented safety measures to a high standard which had no impact on our enjoyment of the day. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, not one of our guests had a complaint, in fact, each and everyone commented on how lovely the food, hotel and atmosphere was. The honeymoon suite was beautifully prepared with a lovely little gift and heart-shaped rose petals for our arrival.

I really can not recommend the legacy rose and crown enough. We genuinely had no problems whatsoever, and the hotel accommodated all our requests. Thank you, Rose and crown.

The setting is absolutely gorgeous for those who want a picturesque wedding with the river and Cathedral in the backdrop. Throughout the weekend of our wedding, the entire staff were professional and very hospitable, often pre-empting our requirements--and the food was delicious! The day was exactly as we hoped and we truly recommend this venue.

parents with organising a surprise of Star Wars characters to greet us at the door when we arrived. We themed our wedding to be gaming/arcade related and arranged for arcade machines and consoles to be set up in the Oak Bar, this was done whilst we were having our meal and overseen by Rachael to make sure everything was in the right place. Being big geeks this was amazing to have at the venue!

The food was so delicious and our guests with special requirements were catered for no problem at all. Even with nearly 100 guests every one got what they wanted. The breakfast the next day was also very nice!

DJ did a great job on the night and the added extras of the smoke machine and confetti at the end of the first dance was really something special.

Would definitely recommend this venue for the beautiful photos we got with the cathedral in the background, professional staff, great food and just a flawless day with some truly great memories for the best day of our lives!

plan your dream wedding. I had no experience. Thankfully the Rose & Crown have a fabulous team and thanks to the wedding coordinator Racheal, who helped me throughout my whole journey. Nothing was to much, it really felt like the sky was limit.

The hardest thing I found when planning my wedding was not being able to see it all come together until the day. I had to hope that all the hard work would pay off and everything would be enough. But on the wedding day I didn’t worry about anything. There was nothing to be worried about. Racheal and her team had everything under control. There was nothing for us to do but just be present and celebrate with all the people we love. Which meant the world to us.

The Rose & Crown is such a lovely hotel surrounded by beautiful scenery and very close to the cathedral which can be seen from the garden which make the best photos!

The food was absolutely delicious! And the dessert with our initials written in chocolate was just the perfect personalised touch!

Asa the DJ was brilliant!! He delivered a great party and kept people dancing all night!!

I thought it would be impossible to have a wedding without any disasters but not even a small hiccup!

Almost 2 weeks since our wedding day and it’s been amazing to hear all our family and friends positive feedback. They have said “it’s the best wedding they have been to” I know were biased but of course we agree!

We are so grateful that everything went perfectly! It’s been the best wedding gift we could have ever wished for - for all our guests to have had a good time.

time as many or as few of our own personal touches could be included. Whilst it was a “package” we really felt that we were getting (and eventually got) the wedding reception we wanted.

The location is beautiful both indoors and outdoors. It was great for photos of our guests and as a couple. We got lovely photos all day – even outside after dark in the rain. The space provided was perfect for our meal and evening entertainment. We got the “relaxed” feel we wanted within a modern and stylish location. There was a space for everyone – whether that was on the dance floor or enjoying a quiet drink with friends in the snug.

On the day the attention to detail was spot and our plan and requests were followed to the letter. The team were there to help us and work with us as much as we needed. We never felt the staff were intrusive, just there when needed and to help things move forward.

To top off the perfect day, the room we had for our first night as a married couple was lovely – a great place to start our new life together. The hotel was also able to help provide great rooms for our guests and a lovely chance to share a breakfast with everyone on the morning after. There was no sense of rush to removing our personal items the next morning – helping give us a perfect end to our time at the hotel.

Right from the start, the organising, the food tasting, the time and effort put in from the staff is both extremely friendly and professional, nothing is too much trouble for them.

On the day it ran very smoothly and my now husband and I never had to worry about a thing, it was all taken care of. They even hid my brother who had flown over from Australia until the ceremony!

The food was amazing, the canapés, the wedding breakfast and the buffet was very tasty and plentiful, everybody commented on how delicious it all was. You will not go wrong by choosing this venue.

ours had broken on the wedding morning.
The whole venue was spotlessly clean, the grounds were lovely by the river. The room we hired was put together by the staff with the bits and bobs we had brought in the night before. It just looked perfect. Everyone commented on how nice it looked. The food was amazing, and again everyone had nice things to say about it. There was plenty of choice on the menu we chose.
Our honeymoon suite was massive with a lovely bath and shower. We even had a card and a couple of goodies from the hotel. The final thing was the buffet breakfast which had plenty of choices.

making sensible decisions and giving advice when we needed it. The planning process was smooth with plenty of contact without being overbearing.

The day itself was fantastic. The rooms looked stunning and the event ran perfectly thanks to the dedicated staff. The food was exceptional, it all came out together for our 80 guests and the service was brilliant. The highest quality products were used and it definitely showed.

The resident DJ was accommodating to track requests beforehand and managed to play the majority on the night. The evening barbecue was just as good as the main meal and we were able to enjoy it on the terrace in the most perfect of settings.

I wouldn't change a single thing about our wedding. The Rose and Crown made it perfect for us. Thank you.

delivery of the cake the day before the wedding, our requirements for decoration and table settings and ensured that guests and the wedding party were at ease. The seating covers, table settings and decoration was all done so well, with changes from the ceremony set up to dining set up done efficiently.

The food was excellent and received compliments from many of the guests. The service was timely and measured, and allowed time for engaging with our guests. Thanks to good fortune with the weather we were able to enjoy our reception drinks in the garden, with the guests able to enjoy the patio while photos were taken a little away beside the river. This is a splendid setting, with picturesque views to cathedral and along the river to the old Harnham bridge. This outside space is both beautiful and well cared for, providing an option that can be enjoyed by guests throughout the evening. The disco organised through the hotel listened to our requests and provided an excellent arrangement of music to meet our needs.

If there was one feature of the arrangements that was not as ideal, it was that several of the guests who stayed in the hotel found cheaper deals for rooms online than the special offer rooms held for the wedding. Only 3 of the 10 rooms held were occupied due to this disparity in room rates.

I cannot commend the staff and arrangements made by Rachel the wedding organiser enough. Our wedding felt incredibly special, and the hotel and staff helped make it so. Thank you so much for make our special day extra special.

were attentive & helpful, and listened to what we wanted to do. The organisation on the day was excellent, the function room was beautifully set out for our arrival, everything went according to plan & the staff were so attentive.

Credit must also go to all the other members of staff working that day, and over our stay at the hotel, who were all friendly, helpful and professional - and this was echoed by comments from our family and friends.

The tray of sandwiches on the day were very welcome, the children all tucked up the huuuuge bed having their lunch was so cute and hilarious !
The lady who cleaned the room provided up with extra towels and shower gel and also came along before she finished work to hoover, as knowing the children were there it did need a clean up for the happy couple to spend their night there.
The venue was decorated splendidly and showed off my hard work really well.
The food was excellent, tasty, hot and well presented. Portion sizes were good. We weren't rushed with our meal either.
The waiting staff couldn't do enough for people.
The evening buffet was plentiful and tasty.
The disco was good and contacted us before the day to find out our choices of music.
All in all a great day, with many happy memories.
I would certainly recommend the Rose & Crown as an exceptional venue for a wedding or indeed any party.

A huge part of this was down to Rachel's meticulous behind the scenes organisation in the months leading up to the wedding and to Caroline for her fantastic help throughout the day itself; quite honestly we couldn't have done it without them both. The venue was decorated exactly how we wished, the food was delicious and the whole organisation of the day was perfect. All of our guests said what a beautiful setting it was for our special day and we couldn't agree more. it. During that first meeting, we absolutely fell in love with the venue. The wedding planner Rachel was lovely, the building and grounds absolutely stunning, and the package was perfect for us. Booking our wedding here was a no brainer.

The planning process ran very smoothly, and as the package included everything from chair covers and welcomes drinks, to food and DJ, a lot of the stressful planning was taken out of our hands, which was fantastic. We had regular contact with Rachel, and all of our questions were answered (even the more strange ones such as 'can we fly a drone here?!').

I stayed here the night before the wedding, and the room my mother and I stayed in was beautiful, with beautiful views of Salisbury Cathedral. On the morning of the wedding I was having a few 'bride moments' (how will they know where to put all of my homemade decorations?!), but the wedding coordinator on the day came up to my room and put my mind at ease, so that I could just enjoy getting ready.

Come the wedding reception... We arrived to welcome drinks and lovely canapés, promptly ready for our arrival. The room was set up absolutely beautifully, it looked stunning. It came to life with all of the homemade touches I had made, and the team did an amazing job of bringing my dream to life.

The grounds led to absolutely stunning wedding pictures- the views could not have been better. The food was delicious, and so many guests have commented on how wonderful the food was. I don't think there were any empty plates in the room! All served hot and timely.

I cannot fault this venue. We would have our day here again in a heartbeat (if only we could do it again!). A massive thank you.

Cathedral Suite looked stunning and was just how we imagined it to look from the planning process. Suite looked stunning and was just how we imagined it to look from the planning process. to the Cathedral Suite, its garden and patio area. It was beautiful before, but these new areas really made it stunning. With the views of the Cathedral and the river in the background, it made for the most amazing photos.

Onto the staff. The staff were absolutely amazing, all so courteous and polite. Rachel in particular, we would like to praise, we had a bit of a bumpy start, and I will be the first to admit I was being a bit of a bridezilla! However, Rachel did an amazing job, and we owe it to her and all her organizing for how amazing our wedding turned out to be. We would also like to mention Derek as well, he was letting us know what to do and when to do it on the day, he was amazing, we felt so much more at ease with not having to worry about when and what we had to do next, he just let us know 5 minutes before they were planning to do something.

The food. Well that was the best tomato soup I have ever had! the lamb just melted in your mouth, and the cheesecake was so light. The portion sizes were extremely generous (so it was a struggle to finish the cheesecake!), and the presentation, you didn't want to ruin it, it was so pretty; considering we had 70 guests the food was hot. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to sample the buffet food in the evening, but again the guests complimented how lovely the food was especially bruschetta!

We just couldn't fault our experience with the Rose and Crown, we even had a lovely card to open from them, which was a lovely touch. We had an absolutely amazing day! We would highly recommend this Hotel if you are trying to find somewhere special to get married!

between all involved and ourselves through email was constant and thorough and always kept us informed. We really felt that the rose and crown were dedicated in ensuring they provided us with all our personal needs and requests, from types of rooms to special meal requirements, it felt that there was no area within our planning that they couldn't accommodate for.
On the day it's self we couldn't have asked for a better turn out, the red carpet was beautifully laid out, reception drinks arranged in a heart shape on the table, the staff were excellent and always very attentive to everyone's needs throughout the whole day. All of our requests regarding the set up of the main reception area had been perfectly fulfilled, the whole room was absolutely stunning. The management and direction of the floor staff by Rachael during the afternoon was superb and much care was taken to ensure all the guest knew where they were meant to be at all times. The whole day ran so smoothly and there was a very relaxed atmosphere that added to making everyone feel comfortable and at ease.
The meal was excellent as too was the buffet laid on later in the evening. The resident DJ was perfect and knew exactly what we wanted after just a brief description of themes and even played a couple of personal tracks from cd's we brought in especially for the bride.
As a venue for our wedding day, we couldn't have asked for anything better. The hotel itself is beautiful in design and the newly renovated garden area makes for stunning scenery which really adds to making the rose and crown the perfect place. Overall we had the most perfect day and thank all the staff at the rose and crown for all their efforts.

looked amazing when set up and the food was excellent both for the wedding breakfast and the evening buffet.

Most of our guest stayed in the hotel and all said the rooms were lovely.

The setting with the river and cathedral made for a great backdrop for the photos. We are planning to go back to the hotel in the summer to continue our very happy memories of the day.

right through to the big day was handled so well. The team inc Caroline went above and beyond to make sure it all ran smoothly and they couldn't do enough especially on the day to help.Rachel and the team were so helpful it made the organising of this day stress free.We would like to thank everyone for making our day so very special.

The venue held our 120 guests easily and the bar and seating area never looked empty. The buffet food came out on time and we had lots of guests noting how good it was. Rachel organised the DJ and we were both very pleased with music selection and set up.

We were able to block book 10 rooms for guests and these filled very quickly. Both my wife and I would certainly recommend the Legacy Rose & Crown Hotel as a lovely venue and we had a great time celebrating our marriage there.

gorgeous with a garden alongside the river which made for brilliant photos and really set the scene for us. We could not have imagined the day being as fantastic as it was and we would highly recommend this venue to everyone. We would just like to say a massive thank you to all the staff included Rachel, Derek and Caroline were amazing and the staff on the day were incredible. It was such an amazing day we will be going back every year for our anniversary. Once again thank you everyone and if you are contemplating this venue for your wedding we would encourage you to do so. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

food was hot when came out & not one person said they didnt enjoy it.
Whatever you want for your wedding, the staff at the rose and crown are very good and they will do whatever you want, And it will look better than you'd imaganed yourself!
Like i say, recommend this venue to anybody!

Everyone I have spoken to thoroughly enjoyed the day and said how wonderful everything was especially the food, canapes, the dinner, buffet everything. Breakfast was good too for the ones who stayed the night.

Ceremony Room and Rivers Edge Bar had recently been refurbished and that together with the location, by the river, parking and accommodation made it a perfect location for us. On the day the Kitchen did a fantastic job, our guests (65) have been enthusing about how delicious both the wedding breakfast and buffet were. All the staff were helpful and attentive and everything went to plan without us having to get involved at all, we could just enjoy the day. We had a barn dance in the evening, and despite prior reservations about the space it went perfectly and added to the sense of fun and intimacy of the occassion. A heavenly day !
