South Lanarkshire

South Lanarkshire is an area to the south east of Glasgow and some miles south west of Edinburgh in Scotland. Principal towns are East Kilbride and Hamilton, and there are two UNESCO World Heritage Sites at New Lanark and the Antonine Wall. There are two notable country parks at Chatelherault famous for ancient oak trees, and at Calderglen.The Clyde River borders the north east boundary and is home to the Falls of Clyde Reserve, where four bodies of water converge - Bonnington, Corra, Dundaff, and Stonebyres. It’s also home to Britain’s first ever Hydroelectric power station. To the southern boundary is Tinto Hill. Cone shaped at 707 metres it’s the highest point in central Scotland, and awash with hill walks and trails.Views over the Clyde Valley, and on a clear day west over the Firth of Clyde and as far as the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland to the south west.
