Beauty Treats- DIY Hair Treatments For Your Hair

If you’re anything like us, you’re probably always doing something new with your hair. We at WeddingDates HQ are notoriously bad for changing up our styles whether it’s trying out new colours, taming curly locks, or back-combing the hell out of it (magpies have tried to hide their tin foil in it).

After explaining it had been a considerable amount of time since my last session, I decided to make a well earned trip to the hairdressers. My hairdresser was surprisingly non judgmental. Maybe it’s a sign of the recession but she was able to give me excellent advice on DIY home hair treatments.

First of all she advised never to buy supermarket shampoo and conditioner. Explaining that the majority of these products while having the same components to condition and moisturise your hair often use cheaper chemical substitutes in them. This includes the top market brands too. Yikes! The best advice she could give was to look out for products that can be found in Hair Dressing Supply shops or some clever DIY treatments.

And that is- eggs! A popular DIY beauty treatment, eggs are fantastic because they  already have those protein strengthening components in them without the nasty chemicals. They’re packed with vitamins A, D and E as well as fatty acids.

The best way to do this is to beat one or two eggs and add to your regular shampoo routine. Some people like to seperate the yolk from the egg and use them like shampoo and conditioner but personally I’ve found it to be not enough for a cleansing routine.

You can also whip up the eggs and rub it into dry hair covering with a shower cap or towel for 10 minutes before washing out.

One word of caution: DO NOT do this in a hot shower. I unfortunately learned the hard way that you can easily end up with scrambled egg hair. It might cut your morning routine down though….
