Behind The Scenes at The Royal College of Surgeons

It’s not everyday we get the chance to see a wedding showcase as beautiful as this. Steeped in history and culture, The Royal College of Surgeons has always been an intriguing wedding venue to us, so we just had to ask Wedding Coordinator, Emma Hayes exactly what goes into planning an event such as this:

Hi Emma, a lot of work must go into planning a lovely event like this, what was your favourite part?

My favourite part was watching it all come together after months of preparations. What I had pictured in my mind and worked on had turned out better than I could have expected. I also loved welcoming so many new event professionals into our stunning venue and hearing their feedback on one of London’s best kept secrets!

All couples are very different. What has been your favourite wedding story from RCS?

As you said, every wedding is different and every wedding is my favourite for different reasons. I really don’t think I can pick a favourite one, but I am really looking forward to making each and every person’s wedding day one to remember.

We heard you had some lovely goodie bags! What did they include?

Thank you for your comments; we received great feedback on the goody bag. These included various items including homemade lemonade from our catering company Ampersand, personalised hand sanitizer, sweets and some exclusive offers to all that attended.

A wedding in The Royal College of Surgeons probably isn’t like your average wedding day, what makes you so different?

I really think there is so much that makes us different and unique. The college is a very traditional wedding venue with its stunning pillars outside, wood panelled walls and fantastic service, however it also is a very unique venue full of history and character which I know is important to brides and grooms. Guests can have a look around the Hunterian museum during their drinks reception should they wish, or have photographs in the surgeons library or next to John Hunter’s statue. We are also so close to central London, however being situated in the leafy surroundings of Lincoln’s inn fields, we feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle. There are so many unique factors to our traditional venue which really creates that WOW factor.
