An Essential Checklist For Planning A Larger Wedding

Welcome to the club! Planning a wedding can be super stressful – and the pressure increases tenfold if you are hosting a larger celebration with family, friends and distant relations.

Checklist Larger Wedding

The Webbington Hotel and Spa is one of the few wedding venues in Somerset that caters for weddings between 50 and 600 guests. So naturally, they are lending their expertise to help calm your nerves with this essential pre-wedding checklist. Wedding Coordinators, Sarah and Laura Jane have categorized tasks into three categories, high priority, six months to go and finishing touches to ensure everything runs seamlessly and according to plan.

High Priority

Once you have set a date, it’s best to action the larger expenses and activities first.

  • Venue

  • Set a budget

  • Ask friends/family if they wish to be part of your bridal party

  • Book a wedding dress fitting if you are getting a custom-made gown

  • Brainstorm and create a mood board to decide your colour palette and theme

  • Book your wedding band & photographer

  • Send Save the Date invites to all guests indicating clearly what part of the wedding they are welcome to attend

  • Book the registrar and ensure all legal implications are considered well in advance

Six Months To Go

  • Suits for the Groom & Best Man

  • Flowers

  • Bridesmaids dresses

  • Shop for wedding rings

  • Book your bridal appointments such as make up, tan etc.

  • Organise the hen/stag party

  • Presents for parents, bridesmaids, grooms party

  • Set your reception menu

  • Create formal invitations and send to guests with full details, including returnable RSVPs

  • Choose your wedding playlist and organise any extra entertainment

  • Ensure the given parties are made aware of any public speaking commitments you wish them to make

  • Arrange transport for you and immediate family where required throughout the day

Finishing Touches

  • Ensure your Wedding Coordinator and venue is aware of the following – final numbers; special dietary requirements for guests; list of suppliers/external planners who will be involved in the day and final seating plans.

  • Arrange with your Wedding Coordinator a secure place to leave wedding gifts on your big day

  • Any additional decorations

  • Arranging a guest book for friends and family to write their well wishes
