James & Cat's Adorable Disney Wedding

This adorable Scottish fling had us reaching for the tissues. Catriona and James were married in May at the BEST WESTERN PLUS Philipburn Country House Hotel. Everything from little details of their personalities to their shining friendship and proud heritage made this day extra special. Their local photographer Nick Silverstein was on hand to capture candid shots of the pair set against a flourishing floral backdrop.

A Dream Disney Wedding

Catriona & James

From Selkirk in the Scottish Borders, this smitten duo live with their two cats called Broxi and Dexter. “We spend most of our time together. We like to go for walks and go to see a lot of music gigs. We’re both big on family and spend a lot of time with them.”

Disney mad Catriona met James on New Year’s Day in a local pub in Selkirk called O’Malley’s. “We bonded over Jagerbombs and now we’re each other’s best friend. We have the same sense of humour! My favourite thing about James are his eyes.” And James’ favourite thing about his blushing bride is her “sweet little top lip.”

Could these guys get any more adorable? Swoon!

In a very low-key Christmas proposal, James asked for her hand in marriage at home in their bedroom – which was perfect. “There was a lot of crying on both parts – happy tears.

“It meant everything to us, it was the start of our lives together.”

Four acres of tranquil woodland and stunning grounds which surround the BEST WESTERN PLUS Philipburn Country House Hotel would most certainly sway us if we were booking a wedding! Catriona still gushes about their choice of wedding venue. “It’s a beautifully decorated hotel, but it feels very homely. It’s out of the way, but still so close to the town. So you feel like you’re away from everything, but it’s also easy for people to get to.”

And she also has nothing but praise for their passionate photographer Nick. “He has a great relaxed feel, which made us feel very at ease. He does a good mix between black and white and coloured photos. He also does a lot of candid shots – more natural – which we love.”

Little flecks of their personality really brought James and Catriona’s nuptials to life. “We had quite a lot of Scottish touches in our wedding. We also had a few personal touches; Lady & the Tramp and The Goonies. Goonies is James’ favourite film. We had Lady and the Tramp cake toppers as I’m Disney mad! When we were dating we watched Lady and the Tramp. We said we were like lady and the tramp (joking of course), I was the lady – he was the tramp, it kind of stuck.”

And we think Catriona radiates with her gorgeous hair and graceful lace gown with plunging neckline. She certainly popped in every picture! “I fell in love with my wedding dress as soon as I saw it. It’s the one I had always dreamed I would have. It was from a high street store and very inexpensive, but it was perfect!”

“My mum made a surprise speech on the day, which was so special! She’s not someone who would normally get up and do a speech, she’s very emotional. But she did it and got through it. It was very special.

“The vows were the most special part of our day, James got rather emotional and the first dance too. We danced to Hall & Oates – You Make My Dreams. Quite a dance track and we had a great time.

We would like to thank Catriona and James for sharing their very special day with us and wish them all the happiness as they begin their journey into marriage together. And a huge thank you to their fabulous photographer Nick Silverstein. You can check out his work and learn more about him at www.nicksilversteinphotography.co.uk.
