Gift Registry Etiquette

Are you planning on making a gift registry for your wedding? Registrys can be a very valuable tool in your overall wedding success. Of course, it is lovely to receive gifts and you appreciate the thought and love that your guests have given. But really? Another toaster!

Gift Registry Etiquette

Gift registrys are a fantastic way to avoid getting identical presents, unwanted gifts and saves you the time and guilt of returning all of the above.

This can help your family and friends to buy the perfect gift, with a (big) nudge in the right direction. Some couples feel apprehensive about the whole idea. Rest assured, it’s not a letter of demands to Santa, it’s a very helpful list of suggestions, for those who haven’t a clue what you want!

You can be as strict or as lenient with your registry, as you like. Let guests know that you are open to other options, but the list might be helpful for those who are stuck.

Gift Registry Etiquette

The best advice I have ever heard regarding gift registries is to have a good price range. Guests could decide to buy a large, expensive item or a few less costly ones. One thing is for sure if everything on your list is outrageously expensive, you are putting people in an awkward position.

Know what you want, when making the list. It definitely seems like your a big kid in a candy store, but this is a good opportunity to receive things you really need, with a little help from your friends.

Lastly, always make the gift registry as a couple. There should be no secretly adding that hundred pound rug he hates. You don’t want your first fight as a couple to be so soon and over something so silly!
