How to Achieve Your Wedding Budget

Once most brides have come down from the initial high of getting engaged, the realisation of needing a wedding budget sets in. Once you’ve talked about assessing what incomings you have before creating your budget and deciding who is paying for what you’re free to decide on how you actually want to spend your budget. Breaking down how much that is going to be can be difficult so here at WeddingDates (because we are so good to you!) have complied some quick questions to ask yourself before handing over your cash to anyone!

What is Your Basic Wedding Budget?

Get a worksheet (or use an online one) to figure out your basics. If you already know some costs, like hiring a band, put in the actual numbers and the estimated numbers should make up for it. Always round the figures up to include any hidden charges that might arise.

What Matters in Your Wedding?

Decide on what is going to be important to spend money on in your wedding. Most brides will instinctively know that they want to spend money on one or two aspects of their wedding (for example the dress and the venue). Once you have decided what these are expect that you may go over the amount of money you have set aside for them. Try and decide beforehand how much this is going to be and you will be more likely to get what you were hoping for.

What Can You Save on?

When you know what parts of your wedding you’re willing to lash out on it’ll be easier to save on the parts you are more willing to compromise on. Usually if it’s something quite like decor, there are fantastic options to DIY your wedding and save on expensive wedding favours and such like.

How Much Do You Need?

Depending on what venue you choose, Budgeting at approximately €100 per head will allow roughly half of that to go towards catering and the other half towards everything else- flowers, the dress etc. This obviously depends on how many guests you decide to have as well but, it’s a good starting point. This also fits with the rule- the more guests, the more extravagant your wedding will be.
