The Organized Bride...It IS Possible!!!

I know what you’re thinking….how is it possible to check off all the boxes on your to-do list (which probably feels like it will never end) without losing your mind, or even worse… forgetting something?!

Although I can’t promise that you won’t still want to have a break down at some point, I can offer you a few tips on how to stay on top of your wedding planning organization.

Before we dig in, take a deep breath, grab a cup of tea, and know that you’re going to get through this!

Embrace Organization

The first and most obvious way of staying organized is actually being organized! Sounds ridiculous, I know, but you have to want to be organized in order to maintain it!

Make Game Plan

Choose how you would like to keep track of your meetings, appointments, and to-do lists. If you prefer everything online using online folders, then something like Google Docs might work for you. Some people, myself included, like to be able to see everything right in their hands. So, If you’re like me, get yourself a folder or organizer where you can put all of your appointments on a calendar and keep all of your receipts in. You could organize it even further by including dividers allocated to the different aspects of the wedding.

Set a Checklist

Making a to-do list will show you that you’re actually getting things done and by writing down important tasks you’ll think of other little (or big) details that need your attention. Writing everything down before you really dig into the planning process will help break down the elements of putting together your big day before it gets too overwhelming.

Create a New Email

By creating a new account you can easily liaise with vendors and other people included throughout the planning process without getting lost in your everyday email account. If your partner is also interested in the planning process you can even get creative and make a joint email. Either way, using an email for the sole use of your wedding with help you loads when trying to communicate and stay organized along the way.

Delegate

Let go….just a little bit. Assign duties to your partner, mom, or bridesmaids that you can trust them to take care of. Then actually TRUST THEM! Planning a wedding is too big a job to handle alone! You’ll be happy once these things are taken care of and you’ll be able to focus your attention on other aspects of the day. Just save yourself some stress and let others help you!

Set Aside Time to Plan

Having a designated time set aside for wedding details will help you use your time more wisely. Take an hour each night or time on the weekends to check your new wedding email or search for inspiration. Depending on where you are in the process you’ll know what needs to be the focus of that time slot. But PLAN, it won’t just happen on its own so make sure you really get jobs done.

Get Your Partner Involved

It’s their wedding too! Take some pressure off of yourself and get another set of eyes to help you make the decisions of your special day and incorporate both of your personalities. Once the day finally rolls around you’ll both be able to appreciate all of the time and hard work to create such a memorable event for you both.

Get Going

Well, if you’re reading this you probably know planning a wedding is usually something that can’t be done overnight…so start early. This also allows time to take care of any small details that may have fallen through the cracks, or heaven forbid, something goes wrong. Of course, starting early will also help you actually enjoy planning rather than feeling like you’re in a mad dash to the alter.

Enjoy the Process

Your wedding should be an occasion you feel proud! Not just for all of the hard work you’ve put in, but for what you’re actually celebrating…your love for one another! Getting organized early will help you both relax and enjoy every special moment of the day when it finally happens. You’re off to a good start, so keep it going by using a few of these tips!
