THE Questions You Need to Ask Your Wedding Venue - With Focus Hotels

Mercure Telford Madeley Court Hotel

For so many couples, planning your wedding is a little daunting in the beginning. From where you should start, how you can maintain your budget and everything else… There’s so much to think about! Fortunately, Focus Hotels have come to our aid with some amazing words of wisdom when it comes to planning a wedding…

If you had some words of advice for newly engaged couples starting out on their planning what would they be?

  • Tewkesbury Park Hotel – Plan a budget for your big day, set a date and book your ceremony and venue before making any other plans.
  • Mercure Hull Royal Hotel – Enjoy being engaged!! Take a moment to take in the moment for a couple of weeks after he pops the question. Although you may want to get straight into the planning of your wedding, you will have many months of wedding planning to come in the future months which can be a stressful time so take a moment to enjoy this romantic time.
  • Mercure Stafford South Hatherton House Hotel – Set your budget and be aware of your it too. Being inventive is more interesting than simply being extravagant. A beautifully laid out table plan is just as effective as one made by your niece. Brides and Grooms are often influenced by other people, so our advice would be to make the initial ideas between the two of you to ensure it is what YOU would like as it is your special day. Create a check list of everything that is needed for your wedding day i.e. venue, cake, invitations, flowers, photographer etc.If you are unsure, speak to an expert. Meet with someone who works in the industry for some guidance. Remember, don’t try to ‘keep up with the Joneses’!
  • The Royal Victoria Hotel, Snowdonia – Decide on your venue first, then the rest will follow.
  • Mercure Swindon South Marston Hotel and Spa– Make a list of your requirements-every wedding is unique and be honest about your expectations.
  • Mercure Goldthorn Hotel Wolverhampton – Set a budget, stick to it, It’s your day and make decisions on your preferences and not others attending.
  • Mercure Telford Madeley Court Hotel – A lot of couples get carried away with trying to tailor their day around specific guests and family members. I think that throughout the planning process a Bride and Groom should always remember that this is their day.
THE Questions You Need to Ask Your Wedding Venue - With Focus Hotels

Mercure Wigan Oak Hotel

You have probably seen a lot of nervous brides and grooms on their wedding day! What is a good way for them to keep calm and collected?

  • Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club – Our team are here to ensure the happy couple enjoy every aspect of planning and the actual wedding day itself. We are not only a venue, we are here to help and advice in any way we can to help the Bride and Groom, so this is not a stressful time for them.
  • Mercure Hull Royal Hotel – Take deep breaths and perhaps a small brandy to calm the nerves! Just remember, everyone is here for you so enjoy the day.
  • Mercure Stafford Hatherton House Hotel – Don’t be afraid to delegate jobs and responsibilities to your best men and bridesmaids – this is what they’re there for. (Especially your bridal suite key!)
  • The Royal Victoria Hotel – Plenty of deep breaths!
  • Mercure Swindon South Marston – Reassurance from day of show round through to the day – have trust in your venue!
  • Mercure Wolverhampton Goldthorn– More information the better, be available as much as possible.
  • Mercure Telford Madeley Court – Whiskey! And if this doesn’t help then just reminding yourself that we are here to look after them and that all you need to do is enjoy the day.

What are the most common questions you get asked? What do couples worry about?

  • Tewkesbury Park Hotel– Questions we receive off the Bride and Groom primarily are to do with the Wedding Breakfast, we offer a complimentary trial meal for you, the happy couple so you can taste and see the food prior to the event. Staff are on hand the day prior to help dress the room and run through the days timings, which the toast master does to help put you both at ease.
  • Mercure Hull Royal – What time to have their ceremony. We find that the couples want to find the right time to get married to ensure the day flows smoothly without any long gaps.
  • Mercure Stafford Hatherton House – Timings – timings are the top of Brides and Grooms worries. Trust that we are the experts and we run wedding on a regular basis so we will ensure timings are accurate and your special day runs smoothly. Should we insure our wedding? We strongly consider wedding insurance in order to cover yourself for costs if something was to happen.
  • The Royal Victoria Hotel – The cost and when they need to pay. Who does the seating plan. How may can we sit around the tables. How many accommodation rooms do we need.
  • Mercure Swindon South Marston – The weather – unfortunately the only part of the day you have no control over, however this will not affect your day, even if it rains who cares.
  • Mercure Wolverhampton Goldthorn – Table plans, running of the day. They need as much reassurance as possible
  • Mercure Telford Madeley Court – The main thing that I talk to couples about is the timings of their day. Once they have a clear idea of how the day is going to run then this helps with the rest of their planning.

How far in advance should couples decide on their menus? That must be fun!

  • Tewkesbury Park Hotel – Depending on the meal, if you are having a selector menu then this would need to be given out with the invites to ensure pre-orders and dietary requirements are received. All final details are completed 4 weeks prior to the Big Day with final numbers 2 weeks before your wedding day. We would always recommend that your menu is selected 3months prior to your special day.
  • Mercure Hull Royal  – This depends if the couple want to offer a choice menu to their guests. If so, they will need to decide around 12 weeks before, if they want to put the menu choices into the invitations. The final details appointment with a venue usually takes place around 6 weeks before the day therefore we advise all decisions are made by then.
  • Mercure Stafford Hatherton House  – We would advise for menus to be decided 3 months prior to the wedding, as guests may want to know what the Wedding Breakfast is and make you aware of any allergies so you can make amendments if needed. Our final deadline for menu choices is 1 month prior to the date of your wedding.
  • The Royal Victoria Hotel – Menus to be decided before the final payment is made – but most couples decide quite early on, there’s always disagreements and some special requests (mostly by the grooms)
  • Mercure Swindon South Marston – Generally we say approximately 4-6 months.
  • Mercure Wolverhampton Goldthorn – Offer a menu taster, offer alternatives for special dietary requirements
  • Mercure Telford Madeley Court– I think that deciding as early as possible helps, especially as special dietary requirements tend to crop up. This then gives the couple and the venue time to tailor the menu to these needs if required.
