Real Wedding: Dryfesdale Country House Hotel

It’s time again for another Real Wedding! This time we have a beautiful wedding day from Les and Sam Boutler who’s wedding took place in Dryfesdale Country House Hotel, a magical location for anyone celebrating their wedding in Scotland. Dryfesdale are renowned for their outstanding wedding ceremonies, with an area having 5 acres of scenic elevated parkland providing the perfect backdrop!

1. When did your wedding take place?
30th June 2012

2. What made you choose Dryfesdale Country House Hotel as your wedding venue?

We chose the Dryfesdale as we used the Gretna wedding Bureau to arrange the wedding and they featured the hotel and we liked the look of it. We took sixty guests for the whole weekend stay and had the hotel to ourselves.

3. What one thing do you think makes Dryfesdale Country House Hotel stand out from other venues?
The staff were fantastic. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional and helped with the arrangements and suggested ideas we hadn’t even imagined.

4. Tell us about your wedding menu…
We had a buffet with quiches, pasta, salads, breaded prawns, savouries and also jacket potatoes and carved meats.

5. Did your wedding have a particular theme?
We didn’t have a theme as such. It was traditional but not too formal as we have both been married before.

6. We adore cake here at WeddingDates! What type of wedding cake did you have?
We had a tower of decorated doughnuts as we both love doughnuts. They were iced in our chosen colour, purple and topped with a small iced sponge. It was as impressive as the pictures I had seen and was a real talking point as no-one had seen anything like it before. It was made by Rainbow Sugarcraft at Gretna.

7. Was advice would you give to wedding couples on the their wedding day?

We would say to try and relax and enjoy the day yourself. So much effort goes into pleasing the guests and the day goes so quickly. If you are happy your guests will be too.It is Your day after all.

8. Is there anything you would change looking back now?
We can honestly say we wouldn’t change anything about our day. It was so perfect for us and can’t imagine how it could be improved.

9. Tell us about the wedding dress!

The dress was ivory with small shoulder straps and a beaded bodice. I fell in love with it when I saw it and never looked at another.

Special thanks to Les and Sam for sharing their beautiful wedding day at Dryfesdale with us. Set in 5 parkland, which includes a splendid lawn and a gorgeous conservatory, Dryfesdale is the ideal wedding venue to host your country manor house wedding.

Check for availability of this venue in Dumfries and Galloway.
