When planning your wedding I would highly recommend The Talbot, Oundle. They made our special day the most perfect day that we could ever wish for and more! The staff were brilliant and made us feel totally stress free from the start of planning to the day itself! The food was amazing and there was

Talbot Hotel review

After looking at and checking several venues for our civil partnership in March 2014 we decided on The Talbot Hotel in Oundle. We wanted a venue that had character and would be flexible and welcoming to our needs. We had two meetings with the manager, Bruno, before we made

our choice of venue. We were concerned that as we were only 16 in number The Talbot may not have been appropriate for a small group and we may not have received the personal service a large party may have received. We are delighted to say that our concerns were inappropriate.

From the very start of our planning (which was only 2 months earlier) we could not have received a better service. Every possible option was offered and our own individual requests were totally met. We used the Whitwell room for our service. Drinks to follow were provided in the Snug. Our meal was then served in the Whitwell room and we spent the rest of the evening there. The rooms worked great for what we needed.

With regard to the menu we had a great selection to choose from. We had very mixed dietary requirements for such a small group. Not only were all the requirements totally met, but each guest still had an option of three dishes within their dietary group. Even the Parmesan cheese was replaced with a vegetarian option. All the meals looked good, were served at the appropriate temperatures and tasted good. We had asked for leisurely service so our meal did not appear to be rushed in any way. This was achieved. All our guests commented on how much they had enjoyed the meal, every aspect of it.

The service from the staff was just great. They looked and acted professional, but they were friendly and personable. You do expect staff to be friendly and efficient, it is their job, but it actually seemed like the staff cared and enjoyed serving us in whatever area was there job. Nothing was too much trouble and really we could not think of anything we would have liked the staff to have done differently.

We all stayed the night at The Talbot. We had booked the 4 suites, and 3 regular rooms. Although we were all local, staying on site was great. The accommodation was perfect. It was a bonus to be able to enjoy breakfast together the next morning.

The only thing we should have done differently was to have asked in advance for the dining room to have had a table to seat 16 at an arranged time for breakfast so we could have been together. When we did go in for breakfast we were spread round on different tables. The breakfast food was very good and it was a lovely way to end our weekend.

We have been totally delighted with every aspect of our event and are very happy that we chose The Talbot Hotel in Oundle. Not only did The Talbot meet our expectations, it exceeded them. We received a beautifully tailored event that suited our needs. We would like to offer a very sincere thank you to Bruno and his whole team; you really did do an excellent job. We would love to come back and do the whole thing again.

We had our wedding in August 2013 at the Talbot hotel. The day went so well as all staff were so helpful, and went out of their way to make the day extra special. The whole thing was very reasonable on price and it was a 5 star venue. The hotel was beautiful, especially as it was summer and we was

able to use the garden area. The food was michelin style in both our eyes and many guests were amazed by the food. I would highly recommend this place as a wedding venue!

We got married in October 2013 at the talbot hotel in oundle. I have to start with the staff, who honestly made our day. A very special mention to Andrew who made our day run smoothly and without a hitch. He was on hand through the whole process and on the day when timings went off slightly (as they

do) he adjusted everything only quickly checking with us to make sure that it was ok to do so. As you will see, on your special day you can suddenly forget what you are supposed to be doing after the vows have been said and all the staff made sure everything happened around us and took all stress and worry out of our day. The grounds and rooms made a beautiful backdrop for our photos. The secluded garden was perfect for keeping all the guests together and a great area for the children to play when they got bored while everyone knew they were safe. The rooms were amazing and everyone commented on what a beautiful place it was. It is wonderful for weddings that are a little more intimate as it is just the right size for these. Honestly any request we had was organised and we couldn't have had a better day. Any time we wanted to pop in to have another look at the rooms there was no issue which made it so easy to arrange and plan decorations way before the wedding. We would recommend this venue whole heartedly as we would love for everyone to have a wedding day as memorable as ours. Thanks to all at the talbot hotel.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Talbot Hotel last September and were very happy with every aspect of our day.

The hotel looks modern and fresh whilst still retaining it's character and style. There were lots of interesting spots for photos to be taken both inside the hotel and in

the garden. I think the pathway from the front reception to the back of the hotel looked especially nice in our photos.

The food was delicious - many of our guests said it was the nicest meal that they had ever had at a wedding. In particular, I loved the Eton Mess we had as the dessert. The room we used was just right for a medium sized reception and looked lovely when all the fairy lights around the beams were lit up. The separate downstairs bar made a useful area for guests who wanted to sit and chat, rather than join in the main party.

Bruno and all the staff at the hotel are a very professional and efficient team and were friendly, approachable and helpful to us and our guests. Overall, we had a fantastic day which was everything we wanted it to be. The hotel provided the relaxed atmosphere we had hoped for and we felt they did all they could to make our day a success.

We searched everywhere for that 'perfect' venue for our wedding and came across The Talbot whilst it was undergoing some renovation work. We loved the place when it was still under construction, it still had an amazing charm about it so we had high hopes for when the work was completed and it did

not disappoint us! It is a beautiful place and is full of character. All of the staff are welcoming and could not be more helpful. We met with Bruno and he put us at ease straight away. He was able to offer guidance about every detail of wedding planning. The expertise of the staff at The Talbot meant that our wedding day in September 2013 went without a hitch (even when the man who was sorting out our hog roast for the reception was involved in an accident so couldn't make it - Bruno and his staff organised a last minute BBQ outside in the gardens - to organise hot food for all our guests with no notice - we could not of been happier). Even now, months after our wedding day we still receive compliments about our venue choice and we can not thank and praise The Talbot enough - it definitely is the perfect venue.

We got married at The Talbot Hotel in April 2013 and we had the most amazing day. We booked and arranged the wedding in only 8 weeks and the manager and team bent over backwards to help us organise everything in this short time frame without skimping on the detail. Despite the frantic panic the

manager ensured that I was kept stress free and I felt that she had everything totally under control. And I was right as the day went without a hitch!

The venue was perfect for us as it felt special but relaxed, had plenty of old world charm but with a modern finish, had beautiful rooms for our guests to stay in and was great value for money. The room for the wedding ceremony is full of history and is charming. In the winter you could have the huge fire roaring which would be amazing. The wedding reception building is separate from the hotel so you can party until late and we had a 4 piece live band and there was still plenty of room for dancing the night away.

The food was fantastic and we had a tasting session before deciding what to have for our wedding breakfast. This was really worthwhile as we actually weren't keen on the main course choices so we had a chat with the chef and he created something for us which was delicious and perfect for our day.

We had the wedding of our dreams and I can't thank the team at The Talbot enough for making it so special for us. I would highly recommend The Talbot as a place for a small / medium wedding or event.

We originally loved the Talbot when we were searching for our wedding venue. It is the most stunning place, and exactly what we were looking for. The only reason we didnt originally book was due to our numbers. We were subsequently let down by another venue with 4 months to go and so approached the

Talbot once more. They welcomed us back with open arms and quickly resolved our space issue by opening up another part of the hotel. In fact, The Talbot bent over backwards to accommodate everything we needed.
The whole process of organising the finer details was made simple and easy and nothing was too much trouble. We were really made to feel like our day was as important to them as it was for us - in fact there were times where they saw us through some stressy moments with a smile!
The same level of service carried through into our day. Our day was run with pricision and care and the attention to detail was second to none. The food and drink was first class and the service was efficient and friendly throughout. Our master of ceremonies made sure the day ran as it should whilst still making sure our guests were relaxed and comfortable.
Overall, we would highly reccommend this venue to any couple wishing to get married. All of our guests commented on how beautiful the venue was and some said it was the best wedding they had ever been to!! It really was the perfect day.
Our thanks again to the Talbot, we couldn't have asked for more.

We got married at the Talbot Hotel in May. The staff at this fabulous hotel were brilliant and could not do enough for us and our wedding guests. I stayed at the hotel the night before the big day and from the moment I arrived I was made to feel so welcome and the staff were as excited as I was. The

Having being married before I wanted something small friendly and personal for my second go at married life! The Talbot was all that and more. Jonathon and I had three children who we made just as welcome as we were and anything we requested was no problem for the team to meet. We found their

professionalism was spot on without being intimidating in any way.

All staff were very good, clearly well trained, no matter what their age. The venue was clean and the rooms were very nice, especially the suites.

The food is lovely, we have returned several times for meals and find nothing to complain about. We had several comments from our guests saying that it was one of the best weddings they have been to, what a lovely place and how nice the food was.

I only have good things to say, a perfect day was had by all.

If you picked this hotel for your wedding you won't be disappointed. All the staff are friendly and helpful.
We had a very small intimate wedding at the local registry office and then a meal back at The Talbot. Andrew the wedding co-ordinator for us was amazing, funny, relaxed and professional, he

really knows his job. The Manager Bruno was great as well. We had little details that we needed the assistance of staff with and they couldn't do enough for us. I really felt that's their way and nothing to do with the fact we were getting married.
At our meal the staff were friendly and not over the top. The food was fantastic, great portion sizes and great flavours. This is a beautiful venue, we didn't have the money to use this place for the ceremony but if we did we would have.
