Wedding planning Is supposed to be fun, isn’t it? Well then how did it become possible for it to be so stressful? I have a few theories!

  • There are a lot of decisions to be made about this oh so important day in your life, which can also lead to a lot of pressure!
  • Financial constraints – brides and grooms often worry about their budget and if it will be enough to cover the costs.
  • Lots of opinions from different people.
  • So many choices and options to choose from.
  • You’re not completely sure of what exactly it is you want.

Let’s see if we can banish the stress out of wedding planning and bring back the fun into it!

Venue

Searching for the perfect wedding venue is one of the first thing a wedding couple does after announcing their engagement.

  • Research venues online, while keeping your budget in mind. Check availability for your favourite venues on the dates you have in mind.
  • Request wedding brochures and pricing via the WeddingDates online enquiry form.
  • Schedule meetings with wedding coordinators for a showaround of the property and a chance to talk through their wedding packages.
  • Visit the venue and meet with the relevant person to discuss:
  1. Number of guests
  2. Available dates
  3. Wedding package costs
  4. Menu options
  5. Accomodation for guests
  6. Timeline for booking
  7. Payments
  8. Tastings
  • Take your time choosing your venue, if you are unsure of anything make sure you ask until you are certain it is the right choice for you.

Decor

We see and hear about wedding trends and themes every day from blogs, websites and wedding magazines that it make the decision seem very stressful! Between colours, flowers, table centrepieces, escort cards, wedding favours, seating plans, candles, props, the options are endless!

Choose a colour, theme or trend that suits your wedding. It’s always good to consider the season, and remember sometimes less is more!

Ask yourself:

  • What do I like?
  • What time of year is it going to be?
  • What overall look am I trying to create?
  • Is this particular look ‘us’?

Food

Their are many things to consider when planning what food to have served at your wedding:

  • The amount of guests
  • The time of year you are getting married
  • Your budget
  • The tastes of both yourself and your guests

Make an appointment to speak with the caterer or the chef at the venue to discuss the options available. Ask for their opinion, they have been doing this for quite awhile no doubt so they will be able to share their thoughts are experiences. Make sure to also arrange a tasting.
