Egham is a small town on the outskirts of London, best know as home to Royal Holloway University of London. The University’s main Founder’s Building is a large red neo-gothic pile in a similar style to St Pancras Station, which movie fans will recognise from an appearance in the second Avengers film. Egham’s high street is a combination of nicely preserved historic buildings, particularly the pub dating back to the 16th century, with more modern building styles.
Nearby is the beautiful Surrey countryside, including Runnymede, where the Magna Carta was signed in the year 1215. This area is delicate and picaresque meadowlands, weeping willows, fields and ponds. It’s also where England’s last fatal duel was fought!
Egham’s railway station is on the line between London Waterloo and Reading, and the town is located only five miles from London Heathrow Airport, which is two junctions away to the north around the M25 motorway.
