Dorset

Dorset With its beautiful coastline and warm, sunny weather, you’d be hard-pressed to find somewhere better for a summer wedding than Dorset. Leave the city behind - Dorset is mostly rural, apart from the south-east, with a conurbation of Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole. Originally built as a spa, Bournemouth has turned into one of England’s prime destinations for sun, sea, sand, and bustling nightlife. Dorset forms part of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, formed over millions of years and rich in spectacular chalk cliffs and stunning scenery. The region attracts many tourists, and is well serviced with amenities, beautiful walks and trails. Moving inland and away from the coast, rural Dorset is traditional rural England at its finest; unspoilt countryside and picturesque villages such as Sherbourne or Gillingham, all benefitting from that southern English sun. Dorset has some of the highest summer and winter temperatures in the UK, with less wind and rain than Devon or Cornwall. Aim for a summer wedding in July or August with highs of 20°. Dorset is one of the few counties not to have a motorway; however, the A31, A35 and A303 all pass through the county. Photo by Joshua Cowan vi Unsplash
