East Sussex
Part of the historic county of Sussex, this south east corner of England is one of the sunniest counties in England. The landscape has well known features such as the Weald and South Downs, the Chalk Hills leading to the cliffs and Lighthouse at Beachy Head. There are castles and historical buildings dotted throughout the county. For a more urban setting, there’s ultra trendy Brighton & Hove, beloved of creatives and its popular Brighton beach. Or chilled out Eastbourne, Lewes or the historic Old Town Hastings. East Sussex retains its high temperatures year-round, falling to 8° in January and February, and rising to 21° in July and August. Rainfall is, strangely for Britain, not much of an issue, barring the winter months, but there may still be showers. On average this corner of the country has more sunshine than the rest of the country. Proximity to London gives it relatively good accessibility by road and rail. Don’t miss the views across the channel from Beachy Head. Photo by Benjamin Davies via Unsplash
