Located in south west England, Gloucestershire encompasses the Cotswolds, the River Severn and the Forest of Dean. As well as the Cotswolds AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) the county borders the Wye Valley AONB and the Malvern Hills AONB. The Forest of Dean to the west is made up of palaeozoic rocks, limestone and gorgeous red sandstone. The Severn Valley to the east is a deep flowing river. Honey stone villages and towns are the norm throughout the beautiful Cotswolds. Places like Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water are popular destinations. An abundance of bridges in Bourton-on-the-Water has given it the name Venice of the Cotswolds. Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stroud and Tewkesbury are the main areas of population in this picturesque county.
